Loggerhead
Our flagship product, Loggerhead, offers a step-change reduction in operating costs and emissions by replacing vessels entirely with an uncrewed, all-electric submersible mothership.

Cutting-edge technology
HonuWorx’s Loggerhead system brings together autonomous submarines, AI and advanced communications technologies to deploy robots to offshore locations. Loggerhead is the first and only system to support the delivery and deployment of subsea robots without using surface vessels, while relocating operators safely onshore.
Loggerhead uses an all-electric, ultra-long endurance subsea mothership for deploying worker vehicles. This, in turn, connects to an onshore crew via a surface buoy and proprietary cloud-based mission control platform. This unique approach can deliver the same service as current vessel-based systems, but with significant advantages including a reduced cost base and substantial reduction in carbon emissions at sea.
The submersibles, which can be controlled from anywhere around the world, are all-electric and ultra-long endurance for travelling directly from port to a worksite, such as an oilfield or wind farm.
Key features
Crewless
Loggerhead reduces logistics overhead, variable costs and human safety risks in operations.
All electric
Loggerhead reduces carbon footprint and increases reliability over hydraulic systems.
Semi autonomous
Loggerhead is fully autonomous during transit, collaborative and supportive during operations.
HonuWorx delivers a world first
In December 2023 off the coast of Vancouver, Canada, we delivered a world-first demonstration – deployment of a recognised industry subsea robot from an autonomous mothership, supervised and controlled “over the horizon”.
We worked with key partners such as the UK’s Net Zero Technology Centre, Cellula Robotics and Seatronics and the demonstration proved several key aspects of Loggerhead technology, including:
- Large displacement AUV mothership with hydrogen fuel cell technology
- Compact and energy efficient work-capable inspection class ROV
- “Over the horizon” control of multiple deployed subsea vehicles
Industry partners such as Shell, TotalEnergies, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and FilmOcean supported development throughout the six-month project.
