Senior Software Engineer - Autonomy
HonuWorx is developing next generation marine robotics technologies and cloud software to make subsea work safer, greener and more efficient. We are changing the world of underwater work by introducing new tools and practices which will change the face of subsea operations. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team of experienced marine roboticists designing and building the next generation of collaborative subsea autonomy. You will work with the team to expand and add features to the Loggerhead autonomy engine, from architecture and development to testing and deployment in the field. If you’re a mission driven software engineer that’s passionate about autonomous robotics and solving real world problems we’d like to hear from you.
This is a full time role based out of our Aberdeenshire office, with flexibility on working hours and an agreed amount of home working. The role also has the possibility of international travel to remote testing locations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a team of interdisciplinary engineers
- Understand best practices and current state of the art in mobile robotics software architecture
- Design and implement cutting edge software solutions for subsea robotics systems
- Deliver high quality, documented and well tested code
- Participate in field trials for subsea robotics systems
- Understand customer requirements and how to achieve them
Requirements
- BSc or an MSc in Software Engineering or a similar field
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Proficiency in designing, developing and deploying modular software solutions
- Proficiency in C++ or other object-oriented programming language
- Experience with robotics middleware (ROS, DDS, etc.)
- Experience with unit testing and continuous integration/testing
- Experience with mobile or marine robotics a plus
- A standout candidate will have a public code portfolio in GitHub

Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer
Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer

We are looking for a Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer to join our team of experienced marine roboticists designing and building the next generation of collaborative subsea work systems. You will work with the team to design, build and test subsea robotics that unlock the true potential of autonomous marine systems, from architecture and development to testing and deployment in the field. If you’re a rockstar Engineer that’s passionate about robotics and solving real world problems then we’d love to hear from you.
This is a full-time onsite role worked from our offices at the Energy Transition Zone at Altens, Aberdeen. Occasional travel to test locations internationally will be required.

- Design and implement reliable and robust systems for the marine environment
- Deliver high quality, documented and well tested systems
- Participate in field trials for subsea robotics systems
- Understand customer requirements and how to achieve them
Requirements
- BSc or an MSc in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Proficiency in designing, developing and deploying mechanical systems
- Experience with using CAD software and creating manufacturing drawings
- Experience with system integration testing and in-field fault finding
- Experience working closely with software and systems engineering a plus
